Burston and Shimpling – Mill Road / Crown Green Closure notice for junction repairs

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14923) affecting

A) C205 Mill Road from its junction with C205 Crown Green for 100 metres north-westwards (“Road A”),

B) C205 Mill Road/Mill Green from 100 metres northwest of its junction with C205 Crown Green to its junction with C205 Hall Road (“Road B”),

C) U76108 Mill Green/Bridge Road from its junction with C205 Hall Road to its junction with C342 Gissing Road (“Road C”),

D) C205 Hall Road from its junction with U76108 Mill Green to its junction with U76235 Back Lane (“Road D”) and

E) U76235 Back Lane from its junction with C205 Hall Road to its junction with C472 Durbidges Hill (“Road E”) in the Parish of Buston and Shimpling to facilitate carriageway patching works.

Road A will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access); traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over Roads B-E shall be subject to the imposition of a 20mph speed restriction; Road C shall be temporarily subject to the imposition of a one-way system (westbound) and the effect of this is that vehicles will only be allowed to travel in a westerly direction; Road D shall be temporarily subject to the imposition of a one-way system (north-westbound) and the effect of this is that vehicles will only be allowed to travel in a north-westerly direction and Road E shall be temporarily subject to the imposition of a one-way system (southbound) and the effect of this is that vehicles will only be allowed to travel in a southerly direction for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 2^nd to 6^th October 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 17^th November 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: Mill Road, Mill Green, Bridge Road, Gissing Road, Crown Green (Gissing, Burston and Shimpling).

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council. Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in Road A where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 17^th November 2026 without further notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention. In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make the South Area Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14907) to facilitate installation and replacement of reflective road studs works affecting:
1.1 A140 Norwich Road from its junction with the B1527 Hempnall Roundabout to its junction with Church Road in the Town of Long Stratton and in the Parish of Tasburgh (“Road A”);
1.2 A140 Scole Bypass from its junction with the A140 Scole Roundabout/A1066 Diss Road to its junction with the A140 Scole Bypass Dickleburgh Roundabout in the Parishes of Scole, and Dickleburgh and Rushall (“Road B”);

The Roads A–JJ will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access), temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload as indicated by the display of on-site signs and subject to the imposition of a temporary variable speed limit as indicated by the display of on-site signs for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 24th December 2026 where the closure/restriction are still required beyond the anticipated dates.
