STRO14498 – Rail crossing closure – overnight 10th May
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14498) affecting the C205 Station Road at its intersection with the level crossing for 10 metres eastwards and 10 metres westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Burston and Shimpling to facilitate railway track maintenance, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 00:30 and 07:00 on the 10th May 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 21st June 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Station Road, Crown Green, Diss Road, Durbidges Hill, Burston Road, Heywood Road, Mount Street, Sunnyside, Shelfanger Road, Denmark Street, Park Road, Victoria Road, A140, Dickleburgh Road (Diss, Heywood, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Scole, Burston and Shimpling).
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Network Rail.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 21st June 2026 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective. A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.
STRO14382 – Heywood Road junction with Burston Road and The Heywood
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14382) affecting the C472 Heywood Road from its junction with U76269 The Heywood for 90 metres southwards (“Road A”) and C472 Burston Road from its junction with U76269 The Heywood for 50 metres eastwards (“Road B”) in the Town of Diss to facilitate new water connection works, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 11th to 22nd May 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 3rd July 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Heywood Road, Mount Street, Sunnyside, Shelfanger Road, Denmark Street, Park Road, Victoria Road, Diss Road, A140, Dickleburgh Road, Pug Street, Burston Road, Station Road, Crown Green, Durbidges Hill (Heywood, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Scole, Burston and Shimpling, Diss).

STRO14562 – A140 near Dunstan Hall
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14562) affecting the A) A140 Norwich Road/Ipswich Road from its junction with the C497 Bungay Roundabout to its junction with the A140 Ipswich Road Southern Bypass Roundabout (“Road A”) and B) U71618 Ipswich Road Dairy Farm Layby from its junction with the A140 Ipswich Road for 98 metres northwards (“Road B”) in the Parishes of Stoke Holy Cross, Swainsthorpe, Newton Flotman and Tasburgh to facilitate carriageway resurfacing, the Roads will be subject to the following restrictions for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 5th to 16th May 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 27th June 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates:
- Road A will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 and temporarily subject to a 30 miles per hour speed restriction
- Road B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access).
